2018 NMT Ladies@Ziyuan Raftingfestival
To be invited to such an awesome event in China was an honor and opportunity we could not resist:-)
Specially fun to see that the number of nationalaties were the same for women and men , 9 nations in both genders participated.
None of us has been to China before and coming to Guilin and Ziyuan felt a little like entering a "Panda pond" combined with the full on understanding of why this place is so perfect for the Avatar movie. Wonderful funny mountain shapes and lush green rainforesty scenery everywhere- with fun whitewater to paddle:-)
The people are super friendly and curious- and the organizers had it all under control-impressed.. hats off for all the people that made this happen. Thank you Sarah for taking care of us and the Romanian women in bus #9
This might be one of the first events we have entered where the training ahead was kept to a minimum. we all got to see the downriver stretch once- floated down as a friendshipfloaty bunch- which was a lot of fun and in good spirit.
Then the next day we got to scout the sprint and H2H section, but only from shore before we got into the actual competition. We enjoyed this section a lot. So much fun.
This was the first time we paddled the new form for H2H and it just makes it so much more interesting as far as possible changes along the way , teams passing in-between or during boye roundings.
We are stoked to have met so many old and new river friends - and its great that the female community keeps growing in the sport as well. A new motto came up- sharing is caring!
And- for the Norwegian Ladies team we feel that we definitely fall into the right motto of the sports association : as many as possible- the longest possible
