Opening Ceremony

6 oclock, bagged breakfast and stowed into army trucks like cattle (ish), holding onto our hats and hanging on by our arms, heading down the steep roads towards Pelabuhanratu for the official opening ceremony.

2 team members stayed home dealing with stomach issues, well taken care of by the staff in camp.

The town was filled up with all the locals greeting us through the parade, and we were shown martial arts and given an instrument typical for west Java to play on.

The temperature hit 33 degrees celcius and with 91% humidity the teams used flags, umbrellas and trees to find shade. this must have been the hottest day so far…

The River is up again and it is noisy so I guess we just didn’t even notice that we were in an earthquake that struck 5.3 on the richters scale last night.

we are getting ready for the first official masters training tomorrow.
